About the Journal

The journal publishes original contributions on insect systematics, taxonomy, phylogeny, zoogeography, faunistics, ecology, applied entomology, entomological bibliography, and the history of entomology, mainly in the English or German languages.

All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team, by a member of the editorial board, and by at least one external reviewer (peer review).

Publisher is the "Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut" in Müncheberg. The journal is an official publication of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für allgemeine und angewandte Entomologie" (DGaaE).

Since 2017 (volume 67, issue 1) the "Contributions to Entomology = Beiträge zur Entomologie " has been published as an open access journal (online ISSN 2511-6428). No fees are levied for submitting, reviewing, and proofreading of manuscripts, or for reading and downloading the articles. The articles are licensed under the terms of CC-BY-SA 4.0 International. Metadata and references of each article are offered digitally for use in literature management programs.

The printed issue, appearing in parallel (print ISSN 0005-805X), serves to ensure sustainable archiving in libraries, and the effective exchange of publications with currently more than 330 partners in 60 countries.

The journal "Beiträge zur Entomologie " was founded in 1951 by the “Deutsches Entomologisches Institut”. In the past years, up to and including volume 66, about 1850 articles by 950 authors were published in 6 languages. All previous contributions have been digitized and made accessible in the archive.

All content published in Contributions to Entomology is transferred to the German National Library (DNB) for the purpose of long-term archiving.
