Abstract

Experiments with the artificial sterilization of Rhagoletis cerasi Linnaeus are reportet. Different concentrations of Apholate and Metepa showed different effects of sterilization. X-rays above 2000 r result in total sterility, but produce changes in the sensory and tropotactic organs which affect the natural behaviour of the fruit flies. The effects of chemosterilants and x-rays on the reproductive systems of male and female fruit flies were studied with histomorphological methods. The general possibility of successfully using the sterilization nethod for the control of R. cerasi within integrated systems of control in pointed out. For the kind of fruit-growing preferred in the GDR a combination of coloured bait and specific lures in recommended as the most suitable method.
