Abstract

The mouthparts of the orthorrhaphen Brachycera (Tabanomorpha and Asilomorpha) have been examined from the taxonomic point of view, giving special emphasis on blood-sucking and treting a total of 22 families, 87 genera and 103 species, most of which belong to the lower Brachycera (Tabanomorpha).
