Abstract

The bean aphid and each of the four subspecies Aphis fabae Scop. s. str. cirsiiacanthoidis Scop., solanella Theobald and evonymi Fabr., each of them representative of on of the four forms, were bred on their respective marking host in an outdoor insectary. Winged specimens were taken out for morphological comparison during the whole season. They were examined in order to determine distinctive characteristics of the winged specimens of the four forms, which were caught with yellow trays or sucking traps. Second sources of cirsiiacanthoidis and evonymi were taken from other hosts and examined in the same way. This revealed the variability of some morphological characteristics. A key to the winged specimens of the 4 forms is offered.
