Abstract

The presented paper discussed the importance of light-catching-methods for zoological research. Light-catching history was starting with sporadic experiments with primitive light-sources, leading to a useful and important collection method. To date light-catching and light-trapping can be accepted as a certain research branch. After studying nearly 800 papers the author attempts to develop a comprehensive system of light-catching research. 6 research-sections are found: 1. Technical base-research; 2. Comparative light-catching-research; 3. Analytic light-trapping-research; 4. Physiological light-catching-research; 5. Applied light-catching-research; 6. Integrating light-catching-research.
