Abstract

Studies on the influence of temperature on the development of Andrector ruficornis (Oliv.) showed clear correlations. The total pre-imaginal development at 20°C takes about 66 days. At temperatures of 30°C it is shortened to 20 days. The initial points of development are 14.8°C for the egg; 18.3°C for the larva; 21.0°C for the pupa and 19.0°C for the total development. This amounts to effective temperature sums of 107.6°C, 168.3°C, 26.6°C or 250.4°C for the respective stages. The host plant (Cuba C-25-9 Rojo (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), Cancarro (Vigna sinensis Savi.)) had only a slight influence on the duration of the development. Reduced growth of the larvae (Cuba 4 (P. vulgaris)) caused the death of the individuals.
