Study of new Hylaeus F. collections from East Siberia and Alaska gave some evidence of conspecifity of Hylaeus (H.) annulatus (Linnaeus, 1758.) and H. (H.) ellipticus (Kirby, 1827); this could be confirmed by the comparison of specimens of various origin from the large area of occurrence in Eurasia and North America as well. H. annulatus, incidentally also genotype of Hylaeus F., is the first known species of this genus with primary holarctic distribution. A new montan species of the nivalis-group, Hylaeus (H.) aborigensis sp. n., is described.
