The four known species Oxypoda alternans (Gravenhorst, 1802), formosa Kraatz, 1856, lucens Mulsant & Rey, 1853, and arborea Zerche, 1994 are revised or dealt with briefly (the latter two). Oxypoda (Mycetodrepa) puthzi sp. n. from Italy [Basilicata, Monte Pollino], Oxypoda (Mycetodrepa) penevi sp. n. from northeastern Bulgaria [Srebarna], Oxypoda (Mycetodrepa) graciliformis sp. n. from Turkey [Içel (= Mersin)], and Oxypoda (Mycetodrepa) turcica sp. n. from Turkey [Mugla] are described, compared, and illustrated. Both a catalogue and a diagnostic key to the eight Western Palaearctic species are presented. Lectotypes are designated for Aleochara alternans Gravenhorst, 1802 and Oxypoda formosa Kraatz, 1856.
