Neue Trauermücken aus dem nordostdeutschen Tiefland, mit einer ökologischen Betrachtung von Wurzelteller-Fängen und einer Checkliste der aus Berlin/Brandenburg bekannten Arten (Diptera: Sciaridae).

Abstract

In the course of eco-faunistic studies on the insects visiting uprooted and exposed beech rootsystems (Fagus sylvatica L.), 2,192 Sciaridae belonging to 44 species were collected. Plastic collecting sheets and newly-designed eclectors for uprooted rootplates were used. Several species of Sciaridae new for the fauna of the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg (Germany) were found in this material and in the course of revisionary work on the Diptera collection of the 'Deutsches Entomologisches Institut'. As a result, 32 species are newly recorded from Berlin and 83 species from Brandenburg. Detailed collection data are given for all the recorded species. For the first time, a check list for the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg is compiled, which reflects the current state of knowledge. It lists 174 species in 18 genera. Cratyna contracta Mohrig & Röschman, 1996 and Corynoptera compressa (Walker, 1848) are recorded from Central Europe for the first time. In addition, a new species - Epidapus debilis Menzel spec. nov. - is recognised, and is fully described and illustrated. The number of Sciaridae species known from Germany increases es to 360. The results are discussed in the final section of this paper. An analysis of the species inventory and of the collection methods, and new information on the ecology of selected species of Sciaridae are given.
