Abstract

SeSam was developed at the Senckenberg Research Institute as a central collection management system. It is designed to be used for all kinds of collections, independent of whether they hold zoological or botanical, recent or fossil specimens. Common descriptive elements ensure consistent data entry. With SeSam‘s architecture being web-based, all that is required for data entry and retrieval is a web browser.
