Abstract

A population of Cylindera germanica (L.) collected at Leipzig in 1954 and 1956, contains both sexes in equal number (the elytra of females are slightly longer than those of males). One seventh of the 272 specimes constitute a black mutation mostly represented by males. The marginal spot of the elytra has been examined statistically: it is entirely absent in more specimens than one would exspect from the variation of present spots; besides, the marginal spots of males are slightly narrower than those of females, though of equal relative length.
