Abstract

There are described and figured the metamorphosis-instars of Bryophaenocladius nitidicollis Goetgh., a species of terrestrial Orthocladiinae, known from Belgium, England, and Germany (Sylt). Comparison of the larva of Br. nitidicollis with the other known species of Bryophaenocladius and Gymnometriocnemus bears out, that it is impossible to distinguish between the larvae of these genera. There is discussed the realtionship of Bryophaenocladius and Gymnometriocnemus to groups of Orthocladiinae with aquatic larval-instars.
