Vergleichend-morphologische Untersuchungen an den Mundteilen bei Empididen (Diptera).

Abstract

This is a comparative morphological investigation on the mouth-parts of Empididae. The muscular system, however, was not studied. The structures of the mouth-parts showed that the Hybotinae, Tachydrominae, and Ocydromiinae form a monophyletic group, which is not evident in other subfamilies. The genus Platycnema Zett. ought to be removed from the family Empididae. The Microphorus-group diverges from the Empididae. It is supposed to belong into the vicinity of Ocydromiinae. The exhibition of mouthparts of the Hybotinae as figured by Engel & Frey (1956, Fig. 242) was rectified. The subfamiliy Hybotinae is considered as extremely deviated and joined on the Tachydromiinae.
