Abstract

There is given a survey on the life of Hermann August Hagen. He was born on the 30th of May 1817 at Königsberg, where he lived for a long time as a physician, and he died on the 9th of November 1893 at Cambridge, Mass., as a professor in Entomology. Apart from his well known "Bibliotheca Entomologica" he has published numerous entomological papers especially on Neuroptera.
