Die Hydrachnellae des Naturschutzgebietes 'Ostufer der Müritz' in Mecklenburg. (Eine ökologische Untersuchung) (Acari: Hydrachnellae).

Abstract

From February to October 1962 sixty different waters (lakes, swamps, moors, seasonal pools, ponds, and brooks) in a wild-life reserve in Mecklenburg were regularly examined for freshwater mites (Acari, Hydrachnellae). The ample collection of 7500 individuals showed 138 species, 51 of which were new in Mecklenburg. This material made it possible to discuss problems of ecological distribution. It could be established for this region that also the more frequent species which so far had been regarded as eurytopic, show distributions that are specific to each species. In the course of this discussion, morphological, ecological and biological data for the different species are compiled. An appendix lists all Hydrachnellae found in Mecklenburg till now.
