Abstract

This short biographical survey gives some important facts from the life and career of Prof. Dr. Gustav Kraatz, a great entomologist of the last century, who was outstanding as a scientist, writer and organizer of the entomological activities in Germany. He founded the Entomological Association in Berlin, the German Entomological Society and the German National Entomological Museum, now the German Entomological Institute.
