Abstract

This paper gives a survey of the distribution of the Mordellidae in the different regions of the Balkan peninsula (126 species) and compiles all the species known from Albania with data about the finds. The expedition to Albania by Deutsches Entomologisches Institut collected 356 individuals of 21 species, 14 of which were first finds in that country. Earlier collections made by Mader and others were evaluated, the total material adding up to 41 species, of which 27 were first finds in Albania. Including 2 species recorded in other publications there are now 43 species of the family Mordellidae known from the People's Republic of Albania. So far 3 species can be regarded as endemie in Albania: Variimorda caprai Franciscolo, Stenalia balcanica Franciscolo and Mordellistena lonai Franciscolo.
