The effects of bacteriological and chemical agents on some leafeating fruit-tree pests (Euproctis chrysorrhoea Linnaeus, Malacosoma neustria Linnaeus, Lymantria dispar Linnaeus) and on some other insects, especially on useful species, were compared. It appeared that the approved Bacillus thuringiensis agents (Biotrol, Entobakterin and Bactospeine) in various concentrations were highly effective against the pests and largely harmless to useful insects. The advantages of the use of bacterieal preparations in the pest control that does not harm the useful species could be demonstrated. A decisive factor in the use of bacterial preparations as well as of chemical substances is the right choice of the date of applications in order to hit effectively at the pests and to largely avoid unjuring the useful insects.
