Citavi is a chargeable reference management, knowledge organization, and task planning solution. Many universities offer free campus licenses!

Direct import of a bibliography (when Citavi is installed on the computer)

Contributions to Entomology in the web browser (Firefox)

• In the table of contents or on the details page click [RIS]
• In the dialog box select "Open with Citavi", and click [Ok]
• In the dialog box “Which project do you want to import the references to?” select of one of your projects, and click [OK]
• In the dialog box “Select the character encoding” select “Unicode (UTF-8)”, and click [Next]
• In the dialog box “Select the order of first and last names” select  "Last name, first name", and click [Next]
• In the dialog box "Import" select the citations you want to transfer, and click [Add to project]

Import a RIS file

Contributions to Entomology in the web browser (Firefox)

• In the table of contents or on the details page click [RIS]
• In the dialog box select “Save File”, and click [OK]

Citavi

• From the main menu select [File] and then [Import ...]
• In the dialog box "What is the source of the data you want to import?" select "Text file (RIS, BibTeX, etc.)", and click [Next]
• In the dialog box "Select the format the bibliographic entries in the text file are in?" select "RIS", and click [Next]
• In the dialog box "Select the data or file to import" select "Import a text file:", click [Browse…], navigate to the saved file, and click [Open]
• Once you have found the correct file, click [Next]
• In the dialog box “Select the character encoding” select “Unicode (UTF-8)”, and click [Next]
• In the dialog box “Select the order of first and last names” select  "Last name, first name", and click [Next]
• In the dialog box "Import" select the citations you want to transfer, and click [Add to project]

Select or search for the citation style for Contributions to Entomology

Citavi

• In the main menu select [Citation], then [Citation style], and then [Browse citation styles]
• If the citation style "Contributions to Entomology" is already on your computer, click on "Contributions to Entomology" in the dialog box " Browse citation styles ", and [OK]
• Otherwise, click [+ Find and add style]
• In the dialog box "Add citation style", enter the name "Contributions to Entomology", and select this citation style

Known problems

Be sure to select the citation style in Citavis Word Add-In.
